Honolulu - Night Out

On our free night in Honolulu we decided to go out for some authentic Hawaiian food, then go to a club called Zanzabar for people eighteen and older. First, we went to Sam Choy's, a wonderful seafood restaurant that was recommended by the bus driver on my tour earlier in the day. Here we split most of our dishes and got amazing food for an amazing price. Then, at 10pm, we waited outside in a cold breeze for a taxi to take us to Waikiki and Zanzabar! When we got there almost our whole ship was lined up to get in. I feel pretty lucky because, since I am over 21, I didn't have to pay a cover charge. Haha to all you young'ins! We got into the club, and there were scantily clad girls who were "cage dancing" on some platforms. I had not been expecting that. It was a crowded space, but really fun to just let loose and dance for a bit.

At one point a kid from the ship cleared a space and did some very talented break dancing moves, with some head spins and a few windmill things. Then we all went back to dancing. While we danced, I was surprised when a Hawaiian lady, of about 60 years of age, began to weave her way through the masses. She was happy and smiling, having a blast with all the kids. Michael (the second) got me take a picture of him dancing with her. She saw the flash and asked me to e-mail it to her. Unfortunately verbal communication of e–mail in a club is a little impossible. The whole scene was just awesome. Every Hawaiian I have met on this trip is welcoming, and fun loving. This just symbolized that for me… Or you can think of it in a freaky-old-lady kind of way, but I choose not to.

Most of my group (including me) had to be up early the next morning so we left at 12:30am, got a taxi to the ship, and called it a night.
