At about 2:30am today the MV Explorer crossed the equator. Today was the most beautiful day at sea I have seen. When I woke up the sky was pure blue with a few white fluffy clouds. The ocean was like glass. It was calm and crystal clear. Rolling off the ship the water looked thick or heavy because it barely broke the surface tension. Looking out, the sun would catch on the water and hues of purple and red could be seen all day. My surroundings were unreal. It felt like I was in some dreamland or a computer graphic of an ocean scene.
After dinner today I went with Erin to the bow of the ship and stood against the wonderful breeze watching the sun set. The crescent moon came into view and stars began to appear as the clouds went from linings of yellow and orange to pinks and purples. The water changed from a clear blue reflection of the sky to a deep blue that continues for eternity. Today was one of supreme beauty.
